These values will hopefully only need to be strongly communicated in the immediate future because one day we won't need to proactively specify that we want to work in these ways - perhaps they will be common place!
- Plurality: Understanding that there isn't just one future or the future or one author of the future or that all futures must be congruent with one another! Futures are plural and alternative! In one single mind there are so many vast futures one can imagine. Now multiply that by the number of conscious beings there are on the planet! This is also about not simply accepting what any powerful organization or person tells you is going to be the future. We intentionally work with diverse groups of people, with differing neurological differences, learning styles, economic statuses, cultural belief systems, religions, spiritual ways of navigating the world, age variances, etc. because we work to make an inclusive experience while talking about futures. We believe that the world will become more inclusive if we listen to more of a diverse group of people about their hopes for their futures.
- Regenerative culture: We'd love to work with any clients who are also working in regenerative cultures and approaches. We want to help build a world that transcends "sustainability" which only sustains the current level of consumption and degeneration of the planet's resources and ecological systems and keep us at being "100% less bad" , as Daniel Christian Wahl puts it. Transcending this looks like "regeneration" which will reverse the effects of 250 years of industrialization and 5000 years of deforestation and agriculture and will help us to move beyond that to co-creating a thriving, self-regenerating community of life. (Wahl, Medium article).
- Equity and Justice: We strive to embody equity and justice in everything we do. We are driven to help build a world where equity is a fundamental value, placing focus on the voices and perspectives of those who have been marginalized as a result systems of oppression, those who have been othered or silenced. We want to amplify these voices. We want to put our energy towards building a world where all people are treated with respect, dignity, empathy and compassion and are included in conversations that determine our futures. The conversations may bring up disagreement, differing views, but we believe there are benefits to talking through the differences, hopefully building more understanding with each other, so long as there is mutual respect integrated into the conversations.
